Willey Memorial

 

Willey is a small village in Warwickshire some 6 miles North of Rugby.

The War Memorial  consists of a wooden tablet in St Leonard’s Church, Willey recording those who laid down their lives in the Great War 1914 – 1918 and another 18 men who served in the Forces in that War.

 

Albert Edward Aldridge Sapper No 551904 89th Field Company Royal Engineers.  Killed in action 24 May 1918.  Commemorated Pozieres Memorial which is the wall surrounding Pozieres British Cemetery Ovillers-La-Boiselle Somme.

Harold William Lee Private No 38777 Princess Charlotte of Wales’s (Royal Berkshire Regiment).  Killed in action 21 March 1918.  Commemorated Pozieres Memorial which is the wall surrounding Pozieres British Cemetery Ovillers-La-Boiselle Somme. 

George H Wright  Private No 4521 10th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment.  Died of wounds 9th August 1916.   Buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France
